In March 2007, Jared was performing with his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, in Texas when the crowd rushed forward, trampling him. Jared incurred a broken nose and minor injuries to his face, body and foot.

Jared seems to play a disfigured person in a lot of his movies. Fight Club his face was beaten so badly that he wasn’t recognizable. Panic Room he was extensively burned. Requiem For a Dream he had to have his arms amputated because of an infection. American Psycho he was killed with an axe.
He likes to spend his free time going hiking, writing a few songs, going skateboarding, going snowboarding, and reading.

He gained quite a bit of weight for his role, playing “Mark David Chapman” in Chapter 27. He lost the weight by going on an all-liquid diet consisting of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and water. He lost 20 lbs. in 10 days. He was diagnosed with gout because of his rapid weight loss.
Directed the first American rock video shot completely in the People’s Republic of China. Jared directed the clip under his pseudonym of Bartholomew Cubbins.
He lost 28 pounds by starving himself for Requiem for a Dream. Jared admits that playing the part of Harry Goldfarb was “sadomasochistic… the hardest thing I’ve done”.

Jared Joseph Leto was born December 26, 1971 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
During his childhood, his family moved frequently, living in Louisiana, Wyoming, Colorado, Virginia, and even Haiti.
After dropping out briefly in the 10th grade, Jared decided to return and focus on his education at Flint Hill School in Oakton, Virginia. He graduated from Emerson Preparatory School in Washington, DC in 1989.
Had a part in Phone Booth (2002) which was deleted from the final cut.
Jared directed the videos for the songs “The Kill”, “From Yesterday” and “Kings and Queens” under the alias of Bartholomew Cubbins , and “A Beautiful Lie” under the alias of Angakok Panipaq.
For most shows, he uses either one of two custom-made Steve McSwain guitars, a white one called “Pythagoras” or a black one called “Artemis”.
Jared was writer/director Joby Harold’s first choice to play Clayton Beresford, the male lead in 2007′s “Awake”. He later backed out due to scheduling conflicts with his band, 30 Seconds To Mars, and was replaced by Hayden Christensen.
